If any of you have checked out Webtoon lately, you’ll notice an ad highlighting the arrival of some interesting and well-known stories. It turns out that Disney and Webtoon Entertainment are teaming up. They’re adding a bunch of comics from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios to the Webtoon platform.
According to Webtoon, over 100 comics will be readable on their platform. These will consist of already published comics and graphic novels reformatted for the traditional vertical scroll format. So, it’ll make it much easier to be able to read these on your phone any time you want.
They’ll also be publishing new webcomic series from all four brands mentioned above. Though, there isn’t much yet about what those specific stories will be. However, Webtoon does advertise a picture of an alien from the Alien franchise and Beauty and the Beast with the words “coming soon” next to them. Interesting, right?

They do already have two comics they’ve started to publish on their site. If you take a look, you’ll see they have 4 episodes of The Amazing Spider-Man from 2022. They also have 3 chapters from the Star Wars graphic novel from 2015.
If you already know about Webtoon, you know how their platform works. In case you’re not familiar, they usually offer their chapters (sometimes called episodes) for free, but you’ll most likely have to wait for them to become available that way.
Usually webtoon locks an episode when they first release it. You can pay using Webtoon coins to unlock it. You’ll either have to pay actual money to get these coins, or you can play mobile games to get them for free. But fair warning, it can take a while to get coins when playing the mobile games. Trust me, I’ve done it plenty of times.
However, most of the time, these episodes will eventually become available for free a week after they first were up. Now, with these comics being bigger brands, I’m not entirely sure whether this will still be the case. I’m sure Disney wants to make money, so I don’t know what their partnership with Webtoon requires.
Webtoon itself does say that the first couple episodes of these comics are free and that you’ll have to unlock subsequent episodes using their coins. But it’s hard to say if that’s permanent or not considering how their other webcomics on their platform work.
You can read on Webtoon.com using a web browser on a laptop or desktop computer. You’ll have to download the Webtoon app onto your phone to be able to read them on your mobile device.

Honestly though, I have the Webtoon app on my phone, and it’s pretty nice. It’s fairly easy to navigate (though they’ve made some changes recently, and I preferred the older layout). It saves everything you read so you won’t lose your place, and it’s formatted perfectly for reading on your phone. And it’s nice to quickly open the app and get to the comics I’ve been reading. I can easily read a chapter or two when I have some free time.
Though Webtoon doesn’t mention anything else about what all these comics are going to be, suggesting that there’ll be over 100 comics from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios is intriguing news. I’m interested in seeing what stories they’ll have. I’m already planning on checking out that Beauty and the Beast comic once it’s released.
