Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu follows the story of Din Djarin and his apprentice Grogu as they help the New Republic track down warlords from the former Galactic Empire. It’s a continuation of The Mandalorian series, but as a movie instead of another season of the series.

Now, I’ve heard a ton of complaints about this movie all over the internet. And from what I heard, I was expecting it to be really bad. But it honestly wasn’t. I just don’t get why people are acting like it’s one of the worst movies out there. There are definitely a lot worse movies than this one made nowadays.

In fact, I actually enjoyed it and liked it. It’s not perfect. I’d call it an okay movie. It has its good and bad aspects of it, but I still enjoyed watching it overall. There was never a point where I thought The Mandalorian and Grogu was a horrible movie.

The pacing is a bit weird. It felt more like a set of episodes meshed together rather than a movie. I think it would have been better as a fourth season of the series. It makes me wonder what the reasons were for choosing to make a movie over another season.

But the pacing issues never meant that it was slow or boring. In fact, there’s quite a lot of action and fighting in this movie. It doesn’t do much exposition and jumps right into all the adventure and action. For someone who has seen all or most of the series that really isn’t an issue, but I could see someone who hasn’t seen the series be a little thrown off by it.

Still, you don’t really need to know much information to understand what’s going on in the movie itself. There are some characters in there from various animated Star Wars series. The movie doesn’t introduce them in any way and that could confuse someone. But I feel like those fans who have watched them would enjoy seeing those characters.

There’s also some really cool connections to the various animated series, particularly the Clone Wars. I think fans of that series will really like how they connect this movie to that series.

Not to mention that Steve Blum still voices Zeb from Rebels. We should all be really happy and actually praise Disney for keeping the voice actor that plays the character rather than finding some other actor to do it like many blockbuster movies tend to do.

I feel like there were some really good choices when it came to camera shots and position. Plus, they used practical effects with a bit of CGI mixed in, which made a lot of creatures and props look good. Even the ships and speeders were real models and they used stop-motion for the droids.

It really is a shame that so many people seem to be against this movie when they put so much care into it rather than just giving us a bunch of CGI slop. I’d love to see more movies use practical effects and give us actual voice actors to voice characters.

I was a bit disappointed with the music score. While I love The Mandalorian’s main theme and was glad to hear it various times throughout the movie, there were other areas where the music just sounded a bit too modern to me. It was all instrumental and original, but it just felt a little off when used in a Star Wars movie.

Grogu is the best character in the movie. He’s still adorable, funny, and cute. Din Djarin is still likable and really cool to watch fight.

The story isn’t really anything fancy or thought-provoking. There’s still a bit of heart with how Grogu and Din Djarin care for each other. But the movie felt a bit shallow. There’s not necessarily anything wrong with that though. It’s just a movie that focused more on letting us see Mando in action.

There’s nothing wrong with just having a fun action movie that doesn’t take anything too seriously. We don’t need every movie to have some kind of deep message. I think it was just nice to see more of Din Djarin and Grogu doing their thing together. I really like them as characters and it’s nice to just see them living their lives the way they do.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu isn’t the best movie out there but it also isn’t the worst. It’s full of action with the characters we already love and enjoy watching. There are some good action scenes and funny moments with Grogu, but it is a bit shallow. The practical effects looked great though.

It’s an okay movie that probably could have been better as a fourth season. I think if they made it a fourth season they could have spent a little more time adding a few details here and there, and that would have made it a bit better. Still, I enjoyed watching it. If you just want to see more of Mando and Grogu, you might as well check it out some time. There are some fun callbacks for the animated series too, if you liked those.
