Trapped at Home with the Male Leads is a horror isekai webcomic about a girl who reincarnated into an apocalypse. After realizing that she has been reborn into a romance horror novel as a rich heiress, Cherry Sinclair remembers that the world she lives in is coming to an end. A weird disease will soon turn people into monsters who eat people, and a single bite will spread the infection.

But Cherry wants to survive the apocalypse. With all her money, she builds a shelter to hide from the monsters. It’s complete with everything she needs to survive until the story’s main characters discover the antidote. However, she didn’t expect that the novel’s male leads would end up in her shelter with her once the apocalypse starts.

I usually avoid reading horror because I get scared easily. But the moment I found this story, I was intrigued. I didn’t start reading it at first, but the comments from other people kept pulling me back to check it out. And I’m extremely glad I did.

Trapped at Home with the Male Leads is such a good story. It’s a mixture of various genres, including romance, horror, isekai, comedy, and action. At first, the story starts out very light-hearted. There’s no horror in the beginning chapters. Cherry knows she’s in a world that’s going to end and starts preparing for that. It feels much more like a unique slice-of-life comedy, considering she’s spending her days creating a shelter to survive.

It’s so funny and entertaining that I just couldn’t stop reading. The webcomic hooked me in just after the first chapter, and I just continued to read. Which ended up being a horrible idea. When I finally got to the monsters, it was probably around 3am and my dog wanted to go outside to the bathroom. I also live in the woods. Boy, did I not want to go outside after reading a zombie monster apocalypse story.

I know I get scared easily, but the horror elements feel very well written and genuinely creepy. The monsters act a lot like zombies. They eat people, and a bite from them can turn someone. Most of the time they also look like a zombie, but there are occasions when they look more like a unique monster.

For example, there was a scene where one of the monsters peaked around the corner of a building. Even though it’s just pictures, unlike a horror movie with movement, the image was so genuinely uncomfortable and creepy.

And the art is just so gorgeous and detailed. I think the details is what makes the monsters have more of an impact. The lines are clean, and the colors and highlights are vibrant. There’s excellent use of light and shadow as well, which create different moods for different scenes. The character designs are really attractive. And of course, the female lead character has great outfits too.

The characters are really well written. All of them are well-developed and have their own individual personalities that set them apart from one another. The female lead and the male lead, who also is the male lead within the novel, are the best characters though.

They have such a great dynamic between each other. They work well together and are a great team during the apocalypse. There’s a slow burn romance between them, but its pacing has been good so far.

I also love Cherry Sinclair. She’s a strong female character, both physically and mentally, but that also doesn’t mean she never needs any help. She has unusually strong strength, supposedly due to a medicine she took as a frail, ill child. That strength helps her fight against the monsters, but it also adds more comedy into the story. She’s smart, uses knowledge of the novel well, and is just overall really entertaining.

That doesn’t mean she’s against having others around to help her. She’s reluctant to have the male leads with her at first, but she grows to like them. She and the main male character develop a good partnership that’s so entertaining and interesting to watch.

Trapped at Home with the Male Leads is a unique, entertaining story that blends a mixture of genres. It’s simultaneously funny and scary. It has a well-developed plot and a mystery unfolding as the story goes on that hooks you from the moment you first start reading. With great characters and two leads with undeniably great chemistry, it’s hard not to love it. And beautiful artwork and excellent pacing really add to the enjoyment. It’s a webcomic I highly recommend.
