For those of you who don’t know, Weekly Recommendations is a post I publish each Friday where I recommend three different kinds of entertainment. Why? Because sometimes you just need something to get into. These recommendations could be for anime, comics, video games, movies, books, tabletop games, or any other similar form of media. They might also vary in intended audience, release year, genres, or themes.

Virgil Hawkins, a 14-year-old high school student, was exposed to a chemical container explosion that released a gas that caused mutations. Because of the gas, Virgil gains the ability to generate, absorb, and control electricity and magnetism. With these new powers, he chooses to become the superhero “Static.” The gas also gave powers to anyone in the vicinity of the explosion. Virgil uses his powers to fight people who abuse their mutations for selfish and dangerous reasons.

Ji-eon, a stressed-out 25-year-old, works many jobs and is still struggling financially. She works three jobs throughout the week and does temp work on weekends. To continue lawful operations, a legal descendant must be appointed as the ship’s new captain. The crew asks Marika to take the position, and so her adventures as Captain of the Bentenmaru begin.
